The rack matters more than the motor

The Beninca BULL20M in Oman ships as a kit, and one item in it needs attention. Beninca pairs this motor with galvanised steel rack, code RI.M4F, and sells that rack separately. Our kit ships nylon rack instead.

Beninca builds four versions and the differences are not cosmetic.

Ours is the plain BULL20M. Its spec sheet says no magnetic limit switches, which is correct for that version.

Installing the Beninca BULL20M in Oman

The base plate goes down first and it has to sit level and square to the gate. We bolt the motor, set the rack height against the pinion, then let the encoder learn the run. Photocells go across the opening and handsets pair last.

Common questions

Is nylon rack strong enough for 2000 kg? We would not use it. Beninca specifies galvanised steel for this motor, and steel is what a heavy gate on a long run needs.

What does the S mean? Magnetic limit switches. This version uses the encoder instead, which is fine on most gates and cheaper to install.

How does it know it has hit something? The encoder counts the motor and watches for resistance. A gate that meets an obstacle stops rather than pushing.

Do I need a separate control panel? No. The panel and the receiver are inside the motor already.
