Common questions
What is different about a hydraulic gate motor compared to your electromechanical BFT motors?
Hydraulic operators like the LUX use fluid pressure rather than gears, giving very smooth, quiet movement on heavy gates. Our electromechanical BFT motors, such as the KUSTOS BT A40, suit lighter residential gates at a lower cost.
Which control unit does this actually use?
BFT’s own catalogue for this exact motor pairs it with the ALCOR N or RIGEL5 control unit, not RIGEL 6. Both control real hydraulic operators, so this is worth confirming against your supplier before ordering spares.
Why is the protection rating higher than your electromechanical gate motors?
IP57 gives strong protection against dust and temporary water immersion, useful where the hydraulic unit sits low and exposed. Our electromechanical motors carry IP24 or IP44, enough for typical outdoor mounting but not the same level.
Can the gate be pushed open by hand if the power fails?
Yes. The motor is reversible, so it releases without a separate key or lever, unlike the irreversible BFT KUSTOS BT A40.
